Welcome to The Book Hunters. I am Sarah, and our website address is: https://bookhunters.co.uk. I manage, design content, and maintain this blog in my spare time around a full time job, so please allow up to 14 days for a response.

The Book Hunters (referred to as we/ us/ our in this privacy policy) are the data controllers.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Comments: If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

This is shared with other google services and hence google may use the data it collects to personalise the adverts you may see. Google AdSense: This website uses Google AdSense to help generate a revenue. Cookies will be used by AdSense to track and monitor impressions and clicks and hence allow The Book Hunter to be paid for advertising to you.

How we will use your data: We will only use data submitted to us for the manner and purposes indicated by the form. For example a newsletter sign up for will on be used for the purposes of sending you the News Letter and an email left on a contact form will only be used to respond to your query.

Sharing Data: The Book Hunter will not sell your data to third parties and will take reasonable steps to ensure that your data is treated securely. However data may be shared with other service providers used by The Book Hunters to optimise our deliveries of service, such as with mail managers to ensure that you get the content you signed up for. The Book Hunters will take all reasonable actions to ensure that a service provider is trusted and authorised to undertake the act that they are being utilised for and to treat your data with respect and within the bounds of the law. 

Right to access: You have the right to access what data is held about you on this website and to request it be deleted. Please use the contact me page if you wish to enact this  right.

Right to unsubscribe: The Book Hunter will take all reasonable measures to allow you to unsubscribe at any time from repetitive services such as a newsletter. When you unsubscribe your data will be deleted from our database.

Legal requirements: The Book Hunters Blog may need to share your data to comply with legal obligations and to protect against legal liability.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

We may be required to maintain data regarding purchases and transactions for up to 6 years following a transaction to comply with tax laws. 

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
